Gray Kohfield

Former Alaska resident Gary D. Kohfield, 48, died July 7, 2007, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
His family was at his bedside when he "slipped away to be with the Lord in heaven."
Gary was born March 26, 1959, in Palo Alto, Calif. The Kohfield family moved to Alaska in 1967 and Gary graduated from Chugiak High School. He then attended Chaminade University in Honolulu.
His family wrote: "Gary's many gifts will be remembered with smiles. He had an infectious laugh, sense of humor, poet's hand and a servant's heart. Everything he did was done above and beyond. He took pride in a job well done. Gary could put anyone at ease, make the sickest plant green and the shyest of animals warm to him in an instant. Gary had a heart for missions work and spent several years working at the Union Gospel Mission in Seattle as an assistant administrator.

"Most touching was his deep devotion to and love for his family. The time seemed too short, too quickly gone, but we thank God for each and every moment. We will miss Gary but comfort comes in knowing he is now in the arms of his creator and at peace and rest."
Gary is survived by his parents, Byron and Virginia Kohfield; brother David Kohfield; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jim Berkley; niece Miranda and five nephews, James, Joshua, Eric, Aaron, and Philip Berkley; grandmothers, Inez Flickinger and Ruth Stewart; uncles and aunts, Bruce and June Kohfield, Bernice Kohfield, Anne Fena, Kit and Masko Stewart; his great-uncles and -aunts; and many cousins.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Gary Kohfield to the Anchorage Gospel Rescue Mission 2823 East Tudor Road, Anchorage 99507.
